How to Activate Netflix on Your Streaming Device
What you need before starting
A Netflix account and an active subscription (or a free trial where still offered), plus the streaming device or app you want to activate.
How activation works
Install the Netflix app on your device, open it, and you’ll see an 8-digit activation code. On your phone or computer, go to netflix.com/tv8, sign in, enter the code, and follow the prompts. This same flow covers Roku, Smart TVs, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Xbox, and PlayStation.
There’s also a general-purpose netflix.com/activate link that works the same way if a device sends you there instead — sign in, pick a profile, and enter the code shown on screen.
If the code isn’t working
- Double-check you typed the code correctly — it’s easy to mix up similar-looking characters.
- Clear the app’s cache and data, or fully unplug the device for 30 seconds and try again.
- Make sure the app is up to date, and that your device is still supported by Netflix.
Getting help
Netflix offers live chat and phone support through the Netflix Help Center — that’s also the best place to confirm a current support phone number, since these do change.
