Activating a new card
Go to capitalone.com/activate and choose “Sign In & Activate” if you already have an online account, or “Enroll & Activate” if you’re new. Keep your card handy — you’ll need the 3-digit security code printed on it. You can also activate by phone at 1-800-227-4825 using your registered phone number.

Applying for a card
From capitalone.com, choose “Credit Cards,” pick a category, and select “Apply” on the card that fits — current card options, rates, fees, and rewards are listed there and change often enough that we won’t repeat specific numbers here.
Forgot your username or password?
Use “Forgot Username or Password” on the sign-in page. You’ll verify your identity with your last name, SSN, and date of birth, then follow the reset prompts.
